Empowering Refugees and Communities Through Education, Skills, and Hope”
We provide education, livelihoods, and psychosocial support that transform lives and build stronger communities.
About Us
Our Mission
Our mission is to create lasting change by empowering refugees and host communities with access to education, livelihood opportunities, psychosocial support, and leadership development. We aim to break barriers that limit potential and replace them with pathways to dignity, resilience, and self-reliance. By focusing on holistic growth, HSLC equips individuals with the tools they need not only to survive, but to thrive and contribute positively to their communities.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build a world where every refugee and community member has equal access to opportunities for learning, healing, and economic independence. We envision vibrant, inclusive communities where individuals—regardless of their background or circumstances—can reach their full potential, shape their futures with confidence, and lead meaningful change for generations to come.
Our Story
Hope Speak Learning Centre (HSLC) was founded to respond to the challenges faced by refugees and vulnerable communities who often lack access to education, employment, and mental health support in the year 2024. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a trusted community-based organization dedicated to creating opportunities for learning, healing, and leadership.
Our work is rooted in hope, inclusivity, and the belief that every person has the potential to thrive and positively contribute to society. in the
Our Services
What We Do
At HSLC, we provide holistic services that address education, economic empowerment, psychosocial wellbeing, and community leadership. Together, these services create opportunities for individuals and families to build stronger, more resilient futures.
Education & Language Programs
We offer learning opportunities for children, youth, and adults to strengthen literacy, language, and academic skills. From early childhood development classes to English and Swahili language training, as well as tutoring and adult literacy programs, our goal is to break the cycle of interrupted education and prepare learners for brighter futures.
Economic empowerment is a pathway to dignity and independence. Our livelihood programs include vocational training, entrepreneurship support, tailoring, poultry farming, and empowerment opportunities for women and youth. By equipping individuals with practical skills and business knowledge, we help them build self-reliance, improve food security, and create lasting change in their communities.
Community Engagement & Leadership
Strong communities are built on participation, peace, and shared leadership. Our programs encourage refugees and host community members to take part in civic life, engage in peacebuilding activities, and develop leadership skills. By amplifying voices and promoting collaboration, we create inclusive communities that value unity and positive change.
Psychosocial Support & Wellbeing
Many people in our community carry the weight of trauma, loss, and displacement. HSLC provides counseling, peer support groups, and creative therapies that promote healing and emotional resilience. We ensure that children, youth, and adults have a safe space to share their experiences, rebuild confidence, and strengthen their mental wellbeing.
“Together, these services create a foundation of hope and opportunity.”
Impact: Why Our Work Matters
